LOnq
D'n-~smn Dimclor
The Division of Minerals and Geology received the Technical Revision (TR-003) for the La Poudre Sand &
Gravel Site, Permit No. M-83-090. The revision addresses the concerns noted in the Division's May 10, 2000
inspection report, specifically the reclamation plan for the 12" culvert corridor between the McNaney property
and Pond No. 1 ("Fish Pond").
The Division has a few questions regarding the proposed reclamation plan for the culvert corridor.
I. Please specify the drainage area (watershed) and over all grade that would flow into the reclaimed channel.
The Division was unable to determine this information from the maps located in the file.
2. The outlet of the culvert extends into the Fish Pond which is a groundwater lake created by mining Pit No. 1.
The level of the water in the pond naturally fluctuates with the groundwater level and the amount of surface
water entering the pond. In years of high runoff, water in the pond has the potential to back up into the
culvert or reclaimed channel. This could potentially block surface water from discharging into the pond, and
have an impact on the surrounding area.
Since a permanent channel is proposed leading into Fish Pond, the applicant will also need to address how the
water will exit the pond. Please inform the Division how water will exit the Fish Pond to ensure that the
culvert and the reclaimed channel will not back up with water under normal conditions.
The Division's decision due date is scheduled for July 21, 2000. Please respond to the above mentioned items
prior to this date. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call.
Sincerely,
~~~
Enca Crosby
Environmental Protection Sp ialist
cc: Dana Moore; TuttleApplega[e, Inc.
Mr. Clem McNaney
