Schemer - - _
Division of Minerals and Geology
] 313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver, CO. 80203
iii iiiiiiiiiiiu iii
999
RECE11/ED
APR 0 7 1995
Division of minerals & Geology
RE: April 3, 1995 Response Letter to Technical Revision; Mid-Western Aggregates,
Inc.; DMG Permit No. M-93-059.
Dear Mr Schreiner:
We have reviewed your response letter concerning the Mid-Western Farm Technical
Revision. We understand the Division's concern that the new proposed phasing plan
appears to imply disturbance will increase as the phasing increases. However, the maximum
disturbance at any one time will not change from 149.92 acres, as stated in the current
permit.
The operator has chosen to change the mining direction. The new phasing plan simplifies
the operator's direction of the mining plan and is not representative of the maximum amount
of disturbance. Therefore, there should be no need to recalculate a new bond amount for
each of the four phases.
In your response letter you also mention the concern that a 3:1 reclamation slope will be
maintained with the use of a suction dredge. There is no difference in the slurry discharge
from a clamshell dredge and a suction dredge That is, on the floating dredge whether it is
clamshell or suction, the fine material and the water are passed through a screen then
pumped into a slurry pipeline. The slurry is discharged on the shoreline.
We hope this letter has adequately addressed your concerns regarding the TR submittal.
11990 Grant Street, Suite 410 • Denver, Colorado 80233 • (303) 452-6611 • Fax (303) 452-2759
