• iii iiiiiiiiiiiiiiii • <br />999 <br />EXHIBIT H <br />• WILDLIFE INFORMATION <br />• <br />• <br />Due to the amount of cropland disturbance associated with the Mesa Gravel Pit, wildlife <br />habitat is limited. Critical species or habitats (i.e. sage grouse dancing grounds, greater <br />sandhill cranes, or black-footed ferrets) were not observed on the site. There may be <br />limited grazing of winter wheat by deer or elk and occasional use by upland game birds, <br />but this would be generally restricted by snow or the availability of better nearby habitat. <br />The sedimentation ponds located in the northeast (existing) and northwest (proposed) <br />corners of the Permit Area would provide a limited water source for big game, upland <br />birds, or waterfowl, although the nearby Yampa River and associated floodplain areas <br />provide significantly better habitat values. It is SCC's intent to retain these ponds <br />following completion of operations for wildlife use. <br />The following is a list of species which have been sighted or aresuspected to be in a five <br />mile radius of the site. <br />H-1 Revised May 1998 <br />
