. -
' Minor Revisiorr No. 239 Page 2
February 27, 1998
State Water Division No. 4 records show no ground water rights exist in the vicinity
of the mine site that could be affected by the interception of shallow ground water
by the french drains. MCC does not intend to use the water that will be collected by
these drains, and will discharge the water to the North Fork of the Gunnison River.
4. Approximately 1.4 acres will be required to be topsoiled and seeded upon final
reclamation. MCC has assumed the worst case disturbance in that all areas not
previously stripped of topsoil will be disturbed for the construction of the drain
system.
5. MCC's understanding of discussions with the Division in recent meetings is that a
revision would be-submitted upon completion of the currcntly planned slope
stability projects, to include as-built drawings and descriptions in the permit. This
is because the plan for the installation of these structures changes on a daily basis.
As such, it is not possible to submit an accurate description of the entire slope
stability project at this time. MCC's immediate focus is to get these structures
installed prior to spring thaw and improve the stability of the mine site. In the
future revision, MCC plans to include a new exhibit in the permit that will contain a
map of all the various structures (i.e. stone columns, micro-piles, etc.), and a
description of each structure.
Please call if you have any questions.
Christine E.
Permitting ~
cc: Norm Every
Phil Schmidt
Kathy Welt
mr239a.doc
