The Division of Minerals and Geology hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article 33, Section l 16,
Paragraph 4, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on May 11, 2001, an application to revise coal mining
operations at the North Thompson Creek Mine was considered complete for the purposes of filing. The revision
was submitted by MINREC, inc.. All review and comment periods as provided in the Act and the Regulations
initiate from this date of filing.
This proposed technical revision to the Permit C-81-025 Application Package reconciles acreages of disturbed
reclaimed and disturbed un-reclaimed areas of the permit area, describes those features within the.disturbed areas
that have been designated as permanent features, describes postmining land use areas, and clarifies other minor
items in the permit application package.
The Underground coal mining operation is on land located approximately 10 miles Southwest of Carbondale,
Colorado. The permit area is further described as follows:
T8S, R89W; Portions of Sections 21, 22, 27, 28, 33, 34 and 35
T9S, R89W; Portions of Sections 2, 3 and 4
T7S, R88W; Portions of Sections 20, 29, 30 and 32
The above-mentioned tracts of land aze shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle maps of Stony Ridge and
Carbondale.
This technical revision application would not incorporate additional lands into the pemtit area or might otherwise
alter previously approved permit conditions or mitigation measures. However, we are requesting your agency's
evaluation of the proposal. Your corttments and concerns relating to the adequacy of fish and wildlife resources
information, the fish and wildlife plan, and the reclamation plan as it relates to fish and wildlife considerations,
including potential impacts to threa[ened or endangered species, are requested. If wildlife habitat is the proposed
postmining land use, we request your evaluation of proposed woody plant stocking levels, planing arrangements,
and methods for mitigation of potential adverse impacts.
