iii iiiiiiiiuiiii~i
Public Notice
Lorencito Coal Company, 1311 Bentwood Drive, Evansville, Indiana 4771 I, has filed with the
Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology, an application for a technical revision to permit C-96-
084 for the Lorencito Canyon Mine located approximately 20 miles west of Trinidad, Colorado,
Townships 33 and 34 South, Range 66 West, Section 33 and other unplatted lands on the Hill
Ranch. The Hill Ranch is generally located southeast of Weston, Colorado. The mine permit area
is approximately bounded by the South Fork of the Purgatoire River on the west, Highway 12 on the
north, Lorencito and Bonita Canyons on the east and little Alamosa Canyon on the south. Map
2.03.4-1 and Exhibit 2 of the permit application contain the lengthy, detailed legal description.
These lands can be located on the Tercio, Weston, and Little Pine Canyon USGS topographical 7.5
minute quadrangle maps.
Lorencito Coal Company has provided information to respond to the shrub stipulation placed on the
permit concerning establishment of woody stems in the surface mine area. This information will
allow the Division to approve the proposed revegetation plan for that area. A copy of the revision
application is available for public inspection at the County Clerk's office, Las Animas County
Courthouse, Trinidad, Colorado.
Written comments on the application may be submitted to, and additional information obtained
from the Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology, 1333 Sherman Street, Denver, Colorado
80203,(303)866-3567.
