J. J. Dudash -5- April 25, 2007
and B-B. The full flow depth as written in the Detailed Discharge Table as
6398.25 ft is correct and can be correlated with the Emergency Spillway cross
section on Map 39. This depth shows the emergency spillway carrying the 25-
yearevent.
16. DRMS: In reviewing the Pond HC Plan View and Section 8-L3' Shaft Sediment Pond
on Map 39, what is to prevent surface runoff from the Hubbard Creek road ditch or from
the adjoining area from entering sediment pond HC through the emergency spillway?
BRL: A water bar will be installed on Hubbard Creed road, please see Map 39
for location of the water bar.
17. DRMS: Please provide a copy of the NPDES permit for pond HC when it is
obtained. As a reminder, if the NPDES permit only pertains to the treatment of surface
runoff, then no ground water that is encountered in the construction of the vent shaft or
mine water can be treated in the sediment pond.
BRL: Comment noted.
18. DRMS: In the Elevation-Capacity-Discharge Table on page Exh-8-2-17, the area is
designated as being in acres but the values appear to be in square feet. Likewise, in the
same table, the capacity is listed as being in acre-feet but the values appear to be in
cubic feet. Please clarify.
BRL: See revised page Exh-8-217, the areas have been revised to reflect acres
and the capacity is now acre-feet.
Rule 4.05.2 -Water Quality Standards and Effluent Limitations
19. DRMS: What plan will BRL use to deal with any water encountered during
construction, either from ground water or from the rock drill water used in construction?
BRL: See revised page 2.05-67.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
~~`
J.
