Apache Clay Mine
MLRD File No. M-78-009

General Stormwater Discharge Permit No. 500719
Section 1. Description of Activities
Activities conducted at this site include primarily a clay mining
operation. Mining at this site is conducted in the manner
described in the Mined Land Reclamation Permit. Specific details
of both mining and reclamation activities can be referenced in
that permit.
In summary, the area to be mined is stripped of topsoil and
overburden. These materials are segregated and stockpiled in berms
for later replacement during reclamation. The stripped area is
then excavated using standard clay mining practices. Excavated
clay is stockpiled for later hauling to ROBCO's brick plant in
Denver.
This is a dry pit operation and there is no processing or
processing equipment on site. Hence no process water is involved
in this operation.
when each active area of mining is depleted, reclamation will
commence as specified by the Mined Land Reclamation Permit.
This mine is a long term reserve source of raw material for ROBCO
and will be used intermittently over a long period of time. As the
operation proceeds, there will be an area undergoing preparation
for mining, an area of active mining, and previously mined areas
in various stages of reclamation.
The mine property is also used intermittently for grazing of
livestock.
-' 7128/93 Apache Mine SWMP
