riverbank that channel stability is impaired. We appreciate that an improved appearance
of the area might accompany removal of the abandoned sewage ponds, but the applicant's
proposal includes much more than this alone.
We strongly urge you to deny this application until the applicant has thoroughly evaluated
and shown to be negligible the:
1) Increased risks of river channel movement to the west during severe flood
runoffs introduced by removal of the existing large rock terrace,
2) Increased risks introduced by the location and size of the proposed new lake,
3) Increased risks associated with long term stability and failure possibility of
proposed river bank hydrological controls, and
4) Substantial and avoidable consequences of river channel movement, both
locally and down-river, to wetlands, homes, and property.
Thank you for your consideration.
Sinc~ejrelyl, '''
Charles A. Rau, Jr., Ph.D., P.E.
Mariou G. Rau
