BMRI--San Luis
1998 Backfitt Geochemistry
I • Time-seri
l
ti
f
i
h
l
d
es eva
ua
ons o
geoc
em
ca
tren
s to determine the rate at which
"flushing" is occurring in the system.
I Th
h
i
e geoc
em
cal evaluations will be most useful if they are coordinated with the
geohydrological investigations.
I
4. Because the geohydrologic system is undoubtedly heterogeneous both physically and
chemically, it is not likely that the "flushing" will occur unifomtly in time over the
' entire backfilled woe. If there are woes that flush slowly, it will be because the
flux of background water through those woes is less than in more permeable
I portions of the system. On the other hand, if water is moving slowly through such
woes, then the loading to the down-gradient system from those woes will,
necessarily, be controlled (because mass can move out of the pit. into the alluvial
I system oNy by ground-water flow).
I
REFERENCES:
I AI, T.A., D.W.
