Long <br />1999 Brdway, Suite 3320 Division Director <br />Denver, CO 80202-5733 <br />Re: Chimney Rock Mine (Permit No. C-1981-023) <br />Technical Revision Application No. 31 (TR-31) <br />Changes to Probable Hydrologic Consequences <br />Dear Mr. Rollings: <br />The Division of Minerals and Geology hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article 33, Section 116, <br />Paragraph 4, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on March 24, 2000, an application to revise coal mining <br />operations at the Chimney Rock Mine was considered complete for the purposes of filing. The revision was <br />submitted by Kaiser Ventures, Inc. All review and comment periods as provided in the Act and the Regulations <br />initiate from this date of filing. <br />This technical revision to the permit is intended to update the Chimney Rock Mine's Probable Hydrologic <br />Consequences. This revision was the result of the Division's review of the mines Annual Hydrologic Report. <br />The surface coal mining operation is on land located approximately 22 miles west of Pagosa Springs, Colorado. <br />The permit area is further described as follows: <br />Portions of Section 30, T34N, R4W, N?vIPM. <br />The above-mentioned vacts of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle map of Chimney Rock. <br />A copy of the technical revision application is available for public inspection at the Archuleta County Courthouse, <br />Box 1507, Pagosa Springs, CO 81 147, and at the Division office. For additional information or to provide written <br />comments, contact the Division of Minerals and Geology, Room 215, 1313 Sherman Street, Denver, <br />Colorado 80203, (303) 866-3567. in order for us to comply with regulatory time frames, we request that <br />comments be submitted within fifteen (IS) days of this letter.
