~~.
WEAVER ENGINEERING SERVICES
823 Garfield Street
Canon City, CO 81212
719-429-5510
December 6, 2006
Mr. Dan Hernandez
Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver, Colorado 80203
RE: NOI X-2005-226-00 Amendment (AM-O1)
Northfield Partners, LLC
Dear Mr. Hernandez:
RECEIVED
DEC 12 2006
Divis~ur of Reclamation,
Mining and Safety ,
Northfield Partners, LLC (Northfield) performed coal exploration activities at
three drill sites in accordance with NOI X-2005-226-00 during April 2005
through December 2006. Northfield has recently received requests from a
potential coal customer for additional coal quality data on the Ocean Wave
seam. In order to obtain the data, Northfield is proposing to drill four (4)
exploration holes to obtain data from core samples.
Northfield wishes to amend the subject Notice of Intent in order to
commence additional drilling within the proposed Northfield Mine permit
area. Three of the proposed holes will be drilled as twin boreholes at the
three existing drill sites previously identified as NF-O1, NF-02, and NF-03.
The fourth hole will be drilled near the western limit of the proposed permit
area.
Afl geologic, hydrologic, and vegetation aspects, as described in the NOI
remain valid for the proposed scope of the proposed additional drilling. fhe
twin holes to be drilled at the existing sites will not require any modifications
or enlargement of the drill pads. Drilling the new site in the western area,
referenced herein as NF-04, will require site preparation as described in the
NOI. This site is located on gently sloping terrain and will established by
minor leveling and removal of topsoil materials. The size and use of the pad
will conform with the information presented in the NOI
Access to this site is primarily on an existing exploration trail that intersects
the trail leading to NF-03. In the event additional trail is necessary,
Northfield projects less than 500 feet of new trial from existing road to the
site location. Existing drill trails utilized for exploration under the NOI are
shown on accompanying Figure 1, NOI X-2005-226-00 Amendment AM-01
Site Map. The existing road and projected new trail to access NF-04 are also
shown.
All current and projected drill sites are within property boundaries owned by
the Chandler Creek Companies. Northfield currently leases all lands in the
exploration area from Chandler Creek Companies. A portion of the drill trail
