The revision, once approved, will allow continuation of
mining the remaining reserves in the eastern mine district and expansion into
the northern mining district, both of which are located inside of the approved
life of mine permit boundary.
The mining in the eastern mining district will see coal removed from longwal]
panels 6 Right through 2 Right and gateroads 4 Right through 2 Right. The
expansion into the northern mining district will see coal removcd from the
northeast submains, northwest mains, panels 12 Right through 16 Right (half
of the pane]), and gateroads 11 Right through 17 Right. As stated above, all of
this activity is within the existing life of mine permit boundary. Also, presently
there are no plans for construction of new surface facilities to accommodate the
continued mining in these areas. The existing surface facilities will be utilized
in the conveying, stockpiling, crushing, tippling and shipment of coal.
The plans were discussed with the Division and the comments received during
the meeting have been incorporated into the application. As noted during our
meeting, Map 23 A has been deleted from the list of maps and the information
presented on it, i.e. subsidence boundary projection, has been placed on Map
23.
It is anticipated that the review should go smoothly in view of the fact that this
is just an extension of the approved mine plan within the life oC mine permit
boundary. Also, Twentymile has been collecting data from the structures
undermined by panel 9 Right and has used this information in preparing the
application. During this period Twentymile has successfully undermined and
