NOTICE OF PROPOSED DECISION
The Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology proposes to Approve Technical Revision Application
No. 41 (TR-41) for the Bowie No. 2 Mine (Permit No. C-1996-083), submitted by Bowie Resources,
LLC. In Technical Revision No. 41 (TR-41), Bowie Resources LLC is proposing to drill three methane
degas wells in order to de-gas two longwall panels in the B coal seam. Also included in the TR-41
revision is a generic drilling mud pit design for the small incised pits that hold the drilling fluids. Along
with the drill holes, there will be about 2 acres of associated surface disturbance from drill pad and light
use road construction. Right of entry to the proposed construction location is through Federal Coal Lease
COC-61209 on land managed by the Bureau of Land Management. All of the new disturbance is in the
approved permit azea and will be bonded for reclamation.
The Bowie No. 2 Mine is a Underground coal mine located in Delta County, approximately 5 miles
northeast of Paonia, Colorado. Coal interest is Federal and private, and the surface affected is Federal and
private land. The permit azea encompasses approximately 5,124.60 acres.
This proposed decision is based on a finding that the proposed operation will comply with all
requirements of the Colorado Surface Coal Mining Reclamation Act, Section 34-33-101, et seq., C.R.S.,
and the regulations promulgated thereunder.
Copies of the proposed decision, including stipulations, are on file for public inspection at the Colorado
Division of Minerals and Geology, Room 215, Centennial Building, 1313 Sherman Street, Denver,
Colorado 80203. Persons with an interest that may be adversely affected by the proposed decision may
request a formal hearing before the Mined Land Reclamation Boazd on the proposed decision. Such
request must be made within ten (] 0) days of the initial publication of this notice, must be in writing, and
must state with reasonable specificity the reasons for the request and the objections to the proposed
decision.
