Threatened, Endangered, and Sensitive Species Report
RECOMMENDATIONS AND CONCLUSIONS
A total of 12 federally-listed threatened and endangered species that may be found in the vicinity
of the study area include two mammal species, four bird species, four fish species, one
amphibian species, and one insect species (Appendix A). No federally-listed threatened or
endangered species that could potentially occur within the survey areas would likely be
adversely impacted because no suitable habitat for these 12 species would be affected.
Of all the USFS sensitive species that could potentially occur within the Gunnison National
Forest, few, if any, would be adversely impacted. Specific habitat features, such as ponds, stick
nests, and cavities in trees, may be used by certain sensitive species as identified in this report.
These habitat features may be avoided in the design of facilities required by MCC (i.e., access
roads, drill pads), to minimize potential impacts to Forest Service Sensitive Species.
Additionally, timing restrictions could alleviate concerns specifically related to nesting raptors
associated with the stick nests discussed herein.
~;: If these specific habitat features are impacted, the Loss of certain individuals may occur, but these
potential losses are not anticipated to adversely impact or contribute to a downward trend in any
populations of these USFS sensitive species. In addition, potential impacts to these species
resulting from the loss of suitable habitat are expected to be negligible.
REFERENCES
~~ Harrison, Hal H.
