III IIIIIIIIIIIIIIII
999
BATTLE MOUNTAIN RESOURCES, INC.
February 14, 2001
Mr. Jim Dillie
Colorado Division of Minerals & Geology
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver. CO 80203
Dear Mr. Dillie:
RECEIVED
FEB 16 1001
Division of Minerals and Geobgy
In regard [o your letter dated February 06, 2001, concerning missing quarterly lab reports (October 2000)
for the monitoring wells M-9, M-12, SF-I and M13R. These reports, except for SF~I were mailed to
your oftice on December 08, 2000 but were apparently never received. Copies of these reports (i.e., M-
9, M-12, M-13R) have been resent to your attention.
With regards to the quarterly analytical results from monitoring well SF-1, attempt3 were made to collect
a sample from the well, but due to insufficient groundwater supply a representative sample collection
was unable to be obtained. Currently, [he well purging is only yielding the ground~Nater contained
within the well bore (e.g., one pore volume) and is requiring multiple days' to recover to a level which
additional groundwater can be extracted. Therefore, this slow yield of groundwatert recovery is well
outside the groundwater sampling criteria contained in TR-006.
As you are aware BMRI has installed a replacement well (i.e., SF-1 R) for SF-1 as requested by the
Division, since the well SF-1 was screened across geologic formation. Currently, 1~MRI is monitoring
the well recovery in this new well. Just as identified above, the groundwater supplyto this well has been
very slow as well. We will continue to monitor the groundwater recovery in both off the wells and obtain
a sample as soon as a representative sample can be ccllccted.
If you have questions or concerns please contact me at (719) 379-0798.
Sincere
~~
David E.
