III IIIIIIIIIIIII III
Walker, Byron sss
From: Hernandez, Dan
Sent: Monday, July 10, 2000 4:29 PM
To: Walker, Byron; Binns, Janet
Cc: Berry, David
Subject: SAE Bond Releases
I asked Dave Berry today what he thought of my idea of calling SAES "temporary drainage control structures", so that we
could waive the 10-year clock and the standards for diversity, productivity, and, if required, woody stem density. Dave said
that he didn't think that was what the rules were meant to address, meaning that SAES should have a ten year clock, and
should meet diversity, productivity, and, if applicable, woody stem density standards. Dave said that we could try to be as
creative as possible with the reveg standards, though. We'll therefore need to inform Jim Stover that the Mine No. 1 portal
SAE "ten-year clock" re-started when the portal was reseeded following the backfilling and grading associated with
installation of the mine water system.
