topsoil stockpile. If a height of 3 ft does not provide enough storage the triangular section will be
heightened to provide additional storage. All topsoil stockpiles will be seeded immediately after
placement.
South Pit Tonsoil Stockpile
The topsoil from the South Pit Area 1 will be stored in two stockpiles. The stockpile will be divided
in two by an small existing access road. This access may or may not be left in place. The Berm # 1
will provide storage for approximately 1,000 CY. The remaining 1,614 CY of topsoil will be stored
in Berm #2. These berms will be sloped at 2H:1 V or less. Again the height will vary depending on
actual topsoil volumes in-bank. All topsoil stockpiles will be seeded immediately after placement.
Overburden
Some azeas of the site aze expected to have little to no overburden while others may have up 20' of
overburden. Overburden will be stripped and directly placed into its final location or stockpiled.
Overburden will be used to reclaim the bench azea of the pit. After excavation has taken place the
bench will be brought back to the approximate bench elevation of (6620'-6630'). If extra overburden
exists, it will be used to raise the entire bench elevafion or flatten the slopes along the western edge
of the bench. If insufficient overburden exist, the fill will be provided by naturals or fines produced
by the operation. The elevation is based on the current elevation of the mined areas shown in the
Spring of 2003 survey.
Naturals/Fines Usaee
During Crushing/Screenvng operations reject natural fines are produced. The fines from the Cugnini
Pit will have three different uses: topsoil blending, slope backfilling, and valley fill. Slope backfilling
will only occur once topsoil blending and valley fill requirements are met. The extra fines will be used
during fmal grading to lessen the slope of the South Pit Areas. Two existing fines piles will also be
included into this total. A table of the fines from each area and the intended usage can be seen below.
Volumes with a negative indicate a use of topsoil on site_
North Pit Natural Fines Production and Usa e
ea Total Raw Tons Waste Tons@36% reject Waste cy(lcy =1S t
xisting Pile 5,3
1 328,919 118,386 78,92
327,307 117,805 78,53
orth Pit Fill -36,62
alley Fill #1 -120,83
opsoil Blending _ -5,3
otal
Cugaini 12!03 11
