The grass tined channel will be used along the top of the bench. The grouted rip-rap
channel will be placed on the highwall cut area to transition the flow to the bench and along the slope
ofthe valley fill material. Boulder energy dissipaters will be used at the end ofthe fill slope channel.
The channel locations can be seen on Map 3. The various channel designs can be seen on Map 4.
5. Mine Facilities and Operation
The site will consist of a portable crushing and screening plant, portable stacker conveyors, and a
portable asphalt plant. The plant will have its own generators and portable #2 diesel tank of 4000
gallon size. This tank will have its own secondary containment built under the steel tank. The
crush/screen plant will be brought to the site fora 18-26 weeks intermittently throughout the year. The
screened material will then be sold throughout the year.
The site will have a hot mix asphalt plant. The plant will have its own portable tank for asphalt cement
as well as #2 diesel for the generator. These tanks are estimated at 23,000 gallons of asphalt cement
and 500 gallons of#2 diesel each. Both ofthese tanks will also have secondary containmentwithin the
plant. An liquid propane tank of 17,000 gallons will also be used to heat the material. No concrete
plant is planned for this site.
Due to the high production rates a fuel farm will be needed for the site. The fuel farm will have
secondary containment for all tanks housed within the farm. The expected tanks will be two 10,000
gallon tanks of diesel and approximately two 500 gallon tanks of gas or other fuels.
The site will have a truck scale, quality control lab trailer, and a scale shack. No outdoor lighting and
no other structures are planned. Portable toilets will be used for employees. No night activity is
scheduled for the operation. All structures on site are shown on Map 3. These are relative locations
and may move within the Staging Area. The portable mining equipment such as loaders, dozers, trucks
and excavators will beserviced on an as-needed basis from a portable service truck making short visits
to the site. Upon reclamation, all equipment will be removed from the site.
Cugnini 12/03 9
