Twentymile Coal Company <br />Notice Of Intent to Explore <br />3.0 Basis of Right to Enter for Exploration and Reclamation <br />1999 Notice of Intent (NOn Tables 1 and 2 details proposed core hole locations, seismic line <br />locations and surface and coal ownership ac each site. Twentymile Coal Company (I'OG) has obtained <br />a lease for coal from five proposed drill sites PDH9901, 002, 003, 004 and 005. <br />Two proposed sites, PDH9901 and PDH9902, are located in the NW 1/4 of Sec 25, TSN, R86W. <br />Surface and coal rights for both sites are owned by P. Swisher. TCC has obtained a lease for the coal <br />and has an access agreement. TCC has already obtained a surface use agreement from P. Swisher for <br />this exploration work. A copy of the agreement will be forwarded to the Division. <br />Drill sites PDH9901 and PDH9902 can only be accessed from RCR 29 through a ranch road located <br />in the S 1/2 of Sec 24 on surface controlled by TCC. TCC obtained a surface use agreement from the <br />BLM for a right of entry into the NE 1/4 of Section 26. TCC controls the coal under Section 26 <br />through Federal lease COC-54608. <br />Proposed sites PDH9903 to PDH9905 (Sec 10 & 11) aze located on State Coal Lease CO-3229. <br />Portions of the surface are leased or controlled by Canulletti & Sons. An access agreement will be <br />obtained from Mr. Camilleai by TCC. TCC controls the surface at site PDH9903. Site PDH9905 is <br />located on an existing ranch road Sites PDH9903, PDH9904, and PDH9906 aze located neaz ranch <br />roads or immediately off of existing fence line trails. Main access can be gained from RCR 27 at the <br />Cross Mountain gate or from the south off of RCR 33 by taking the 10 Right mine road to a culvert <br />crossing on Fish Creek located in Sec 16. An access agreement will be obtained from Cross Mountain <br />Ranch Ltd Partnership by TCC. <br />All core hole sites and all land within 50 ft of either side of all proposed seismic centerlines have also <br />been recommended for cultural resource clearance by a team of azcheologiscs. A copy of the report <br />prepared by Metcalf Archeological Consultants, Inc., is included with this package. <br />4.0 Description of Land to be Affected <br />The proposed exploration drill sites aze all located in Township 5 North, Range 86 West, Sections 10, <br />11 and 25. PDH9901-002 aze proposed within the Middle Creek drainage. Proposed sites PDH9903- <br />005 and the seismic line aze in the Fish Creek drainage. Elevation ranges from about 6500-9000 feet <br />within the proposed exploration azea. <br />The proposed sites can be separated into a riparian habitat type and an upland habitaz site. A report <br />from the Division of Wildlife describing ways to minimi~r negative impact to wildlife is included with <br />this package. <br />Vegetation in the upland regions consist of gambol oak bnuh, serviceberry, chokecherry and sage <br />bnrsh. Both cattle and sheep have historically grazed this area. Several different soil types occur at <br />the proposed drill sites. The topography of the azeas to be affected ranges from gently sloping to an <br />upland, steeper sloping azea for proposed drill holes PDH 9901 and 9902. <br />MONTGOMERY WATSON August 1999 <br />
