Long <br />Division Director <br />Pursuant to Title 34, Article 33, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, the <br />Division of Minerals and Geology hereby issues notice that on February 13, <br />1995, a technical revision application for a permit to conduct coal mining <br />operations by Eastside Coal Company, Inc., P.O. Box 161, Silt, CO 81652, was <br />deemed complete for the purposes of filing. All reviews and comment periods <br />as provided in the Act and Regulations promulgated thereunder initiate from <br />this day of filing. <br />The applicant proposes to revise underground coal mining operations at the <br />Eastside Mine. The technical revision is to revise the final contours of the <br />Eastside Mine portal area and to submit a design for the drainage channel <br />across the reclaimed area. <br />The Eastside Mine permit area is located in Section 24, Township 5 South, <br />Range 92 West, 6th P.M., and is shown on the USGS 7.5 minute quadrangle map of <br />Silt, Colorado. <br />Because the above referenced technical revision application might alter <br />previously approved permit conditions or mitigation measures, we are <br />requesting your agency's evaluation of the potential for impacts to threatened <br />or endangered species of plants or animals, or wildlife species otherwise <br />protected by federal law. Applicable sections of the revision application are <br />enclosed. Please advise us if you require additional information. <br />In order for us to comply with regulatory time frames, we request that <br />comments be submitted to the Division of Minerals and Geology at the above <br />address by 5:00 p.m. on March 15, 1995. If no comments are received by this <br />date, we will proceed on the assumption that your agency has no concerns with <br />or objections to the applicant's proposal. <br />A copy of the technical revision application is available for public <br />inspection at the Garfield County Courthouse, 109 8th Street, Suite 200, <br />Glenwood Springs, Colorado.
