Subsidence Monitoring Reduction
Dear Mr. Kline:
The Division of Minerals and Geology ftereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article 33, Section 116,
Paragraph 4, of the Colorado Revised S[amtes, that on June 12, 1997, an application to revise coal mining operations
at the Golden Eagle Mine was considered complete for the purposes of filing. The revision was submitted by Basin
Resources, Inc.. All review and comment periods as provided in the Act and the Regulations initiate from this date
of filing.
This revision proposes [o reduce the quarterly subsidence monitoring [hat is required. Due to mine closure in
December, 1995, the operator believes all significant subsidence has been identified and measured through
monitoring which has continued as per the approved plan. While quarterly monitoring may be discontinued, survey
monuments shall remain in-place until bond release to allow for additional measurements, if necessary.
The underground coal mining operation is on land located approximately 20 miles W of Trinidad, Colorado. The
permit area is further described as follows:
In all or portions of Sections 15-22, and Sections 27-34 of T33S, R67W; and Sections 3 and 4 of T34S, R67W.
The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle map of Vigil.
