eiiiiiiiiiinium
STATE OF COLC~1~0
Roy Romer, Governor
DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES
MINED LAND RECLAMATION DIVISION
FRED R. BANTA, Director
DATE: November 16, 1989
T0: Tony Waldron
FROM: Larry Rout ten
RE: Meeker Permit Renewal
I reviewed the proposed changes of re vegetation success standards at Meeker
Mine, as you requested.
As we discussed, it seems premature to revise re vegetation success standards
three years after seeding because of weed control measures. If the operator
only needs to do spot applications of herbicides in the future, there should
be no problem meeting the diversity standard. As for the woody plant
standard, I think we need to have the Vegetation Task Force give some input
in the interest of consistency.
My recommendation is to leave the success standards in place as they are with
the understanding that we will take into consideration any future impacts of
herbicide applications.
/ern
1417E
215 Centennial Building, 1313 Sherman Street Denver, Colorado 80203-2273 Tel.
