J. J. Dudash -3- March 8, 2007
salvaged. The cut slope will have 2.25 feet of topsoil placed on it for storage if the full 1,300
cubic yards are salvaged. The proposed construction site is strewn with large sandstone
boulders so topsoil salvage will be difficult.
Vegetation
Map 3-1 Vegetation, Iron Point Tract, shows vegetation boundaries for the entire area to be
affected by this revision. The vegetation type shown on the vegetation map is oak. The
area is also interspersed with the Spruce/Fir vegetation type. Since Hubbard Creek is over
30 feet in elevation below the proposed construction site, there is no riparian vegetation in
the area of proposed disturbance.
Evaporative Losses from Ponds
New Sediment Pond HC has a dead storage area of 0.03 acres which equates to an
estimated evaporative loss of 0.08 acre-feet per year. See pages 2.0466 and 2.0469 for a
summary of the estimated consumptive use at the mine. The net pond evaporation was
reduced to 31.38 inches per year to match the approved water augmentation plans.
Consumptive Use of Water
The shaft contractor will need in the range of 5 gallons per minute for its rock drills. This
demand for water will only be for a few hours per day. Water will be supplied by a pump
placed in Hubbard Creek as long as the creek is not on call. When the Creek is on call,
water will be hauled from alternative sources.
Reclamation Estimate
A reclamation estimate is enclosed. The estimated reclamation expense is $80,996. This
estimate may have to be amended once a shaft sinking contractor has been selected and
the contractor identifies its equipment requirements.
The following data are enclosed to support this technical revision application:
Volume 1 - 2.04-66, 2.04-69, 2.05-8, 2.05-16, 2.05-29, 2.05-30, 2.05-38
Volume II -Table of Contents and New Map-39 & Map-27
Volume III -Pages Exh-8-209 through Exh-8-220
Bond Estimate
Sincerely,
'J.
