Long <br />Divivon D~reclor <br />The Division of Minerals and Geology (Division) hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title .34, Article 33, <br />Section 116, Paragraph 4, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on March 22, 1999, an application to revise coal <br />mining operations at the Colovryo Coal Mine was considered complete for the purposes of filing. The revision was <br />submitted by Colovwo Coal Company L.P. All review and comment periods as provided in the Act and the <br />Regulations initiate from this date of filing. <br />This technical revision provides for a reduction in the monitoring of revegetated ares from theist, 2nd, and every <br />3rd year thereafter after seeding until bond release inspections to the 1st, 2nd, and 4th year after seeding until bond <br />release inspections <br />The surface coal mining operation is on land located approximately 28 miles south of Craig. The permit area is <br />further described as follows: <br />All or portions of Sections 2, 3, 4, 8, 9, 10, 11, 14, I5, 16, 17, 20, 2l and T3N, R93 W; and Sections 13, I ~, 22, 23, <br />24, 26, 27, 28, 33 and 34, T4N, R93 W; 6th Prime Meridian. <br />The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle maps of Axial & Ninemile Gap. <br />The above referenced technical revision application would incorporate no additional lands into the permit area, nor <br />does it authorize additional disturbance [o undisturbed areas. II does alter previously approved permit mitigation <br />measures. <br />In order for us to approve this revision, we are required to make a finding that "the activities woLlld not affect the <br />continued existence of endangered or threatened species or resLllt in the destruction or adverse modi lication of their <br />critical habitats as determined under the Endangered Species Act of 1973...."
