Site 114 Clarification: Permit C-82-056. Foidel Creek Mine
Per our discussion of February 3, TCC is submitting the following information to clarify
changes in the installation of the Site 114 pumphouse.
As previously approved, a second hole was driven to a depth of 72 feet some 30 feet to the east
of the original pumphouse pad and culvert in order to better utilize the existing water resource.
This second hole was cased with 30 inch diameter pipe, but as yet has no pad around it to allow
placement of a protective structure or pump controls. TCC is proposing the following changes
to the previolusly approved location plan for this site;
1) TCC wishes to pour a concrete pad of the same dimensions as the existing Site 114 pad
around the top of the 30 inch casing some 30 feet to the east of the existing pad. This will allow
TCC to relocate the existing pumphouse and control panel to the new borehole which will assure
a consistent supply of water for mining and firefighting purposes.
2) TCC proposes to backfill the original Site 114 borehole culvert with large diameter (3 inch
plus) washed rock to a point some 1 foot below the opening of the overflow point leading to the
Site 114 flume. This will allow TCC to maintain a second diversion point in the event the 30
inch borehole should ever experience problems, while at the same time alleviating safety
concerns associated with the open borehole culvert. This will also provide a distinct origination
point for any Site 114 overflow to Pond F. Enclosed permit page 2.05-13(h) has been revised
accordingly.
