The revision is necessary and prudent to allow
MCC temporary additional raw coal stockpile capacity.
The proposed project consists of placing 320 lineal feet of 8" diameter High Density PolyEthylene
(HDPE) pipe and placing 320 lineaz feet of 6" diameter, perforated, Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) pipe
in the existing shotcreted D2-2D and D2-2C ditches, as shown on Map 54. Additionally, a
temporary ditch will need to be constructed. This ditch, D2-2D(T), will be constructed in subsoil to
course water from the topsoil pile and anticipated slope of the ROM stockpile to the D2-2D ditch. It
will be a "V" shaped ditch 1.5 feet wide and 0.5 foot deep. The water will then be conveyed in both
the 8" HDPE and 6" PVC pipes to the invert of culvert C2-4, that is a 12- inch culvert. The purpose
of the 6" PVC perforated pipe is to drain water from the ROM Stock Pile, as well as, convey storm
water runoff from the topsoil pile to the C2-4 culvert. The calculations for the existing ditches and
culverts aze found on Table 44E of Exhibit 66. The two pipes and the temporary ditch are sized to
convey the ten-year, 24-hour event from their respective drainage azeas as shown on Map 54.
The azea where the activity is proposed has been previously disturbed.
Tentatively, MCC could begin this project on Sunday the 23rd or as soon as the minor revision to the
permit is approved.
Sinc `~Z
CX.
Henry A azbe
Environmental Engineer
