RE: Notification of Pre-Hearing Conference, Recommendation by the Division of Minerals
and Geology, and Consideration of Approval by the Mined Land Reclamation Board;
Colona Pit, File No. M-94005, Amendment Application

Dear Mr. Works:
Since none of the objections were withdrawn at the informal conference December 19, 1994, the
Division has scheduled apre-hearing conference for the referenced permit application. The pre-
hearing conference will be held on Friday, January 13, 1995, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, at
the Montrose County Sheriff's Office meeting room (adjacent to courthouse), 317 S. 2nd,
Montrose, Colorado.
All interested parties are herewith notified of the conference pursuant to Rule 1.6.1(4)(x). Mr.
Luke Danielson, Mined Land Reclamation Board Member, has been designated pre-hearing
conference officer.
On January 3, 1995, the Division of Minerals and Geology issued its recommendation to the
Mined Land Reclamation Board for consideration during the January 25-26, 1995 meeting. The
rccom.~raadatiou by the Division for the Board is to approve the referenced amendment to the 112
Regular Permit. The reasons for the recommendation are as follows:
1. The applicant, United Companies of Mesa County, complied with all requirements of the
Mined Land Reclamation Act and the Minerals Rules and Regulations, followed all
required notice procedures, and has, or will obtain, all necessary permits. .
2. The applicant has agreed to submit a fmancial warranty bond in an amount the Division
deems sufficient for the proposed fmal reclamation.
3. The applicant has agreed to modifications recommended by the Colorado Division of
Wildlife, to minimize wildlife impacts, in compliance with Minerals Rule 3.1.8.(1).
