Lochhead <br />Executive Direcwr <br />.~„cnae~ B Long <br />Drv~sion D~regor <br />Pursuant to Title 34, Article 35, Paragraph 3, of the Colorado Revised <br />Statutes, the Division of Minerals and Geology hereby issues notice that on <br />October I1, 1994, an application to revise a permit to conduct coal mining <br />operations by Bear Coal Company, Inc., P.0. Box 518, Somerset, CO 81434, was <br />deemed complete for the purposes of filing. All reviews and comment periods <br />as provided in the Act and Regulations promulgated thereunder initiate from <br />this day of filing. <br />The applicant proposes to revise underground coal mining operations at the <br />Bear Mine. The proposed revision will add 112.9 acres to the current permit <br />area and provide for mining in the northeast portion of Section 20 and the <br />western half of Section 16. The Bear Mine permit area is located immediately <br />southeast of the town of Somerset, Colorado, within the following sections: <br />Township 13 South. Rance 90 West. 6th P.M. <br />Section 8: S/2 SE/4 South of River <br />Section 9: S/2 S/2 South of River <br />Section 16: All <br />Section 17: All except portions of the N/2 NW/4, <br /> NW/4 NE/4, W/2 SW/4 <br />Section 20: N/2 N/2 NW/4, NE/4, E/2 NW/4 <br />Section 21: N/2 NE/4, N/2 NW/4, SW/4 NW/4 <br />The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle map <br />of Somerset, Colorado. <br />In order for us to comply with regulatory time frames, we request that <br />comments be submitted to the Division of Minerals and Geology at the above <br />address by 5:00 p.m. on December 10, 1994. If no comments are received by <br />this date, we will proceed on the assumption that your agency has no concerns <br />with or objections to the applicant's proposal. <br />
