OF MINERALS
& GEOLOGY
Re: Oxbow Mining, Inc. -Somerset and Sanborn Creek Mines (Permit No. C-81-022),
Minor Revision MR-48 for Elk Creek Exploration Program
Dear Mr. Carter:
With this submittal we are requesting that the Division of Minerals & Geology (DMG)
approve a Minor Revision (MR-48) to Oxbow Mining, Int.'s (OMI) existing approved permit,
for the Elk Creek Exploration Program. The exp]oration program involves trenching to locate
and delineate the D-seam outcrop in Elk Creek Canyon, the completion of up to twelve
exploration drillholes, and collection of core samples from the drillholes to characterize the D
coal seam, associated roof and floor materials, and geotechnical conditions associated with
proposed D-seam development and mining operations.
This Minor Revision application consists of the following materials:
• Transmittal letter
• Minor Revision Application Form
• Exploration Plan Text (Section 2.02)
• Notice of Intent for Exploration Activities
• Map (Attachment to Notice of Intent)
Please note that the exploration plan text noted above does not exist in the current permit
document but has been developed as part of our current work on PR-04 and will be included
with that submittal. Our intent is to provide a description of exploration practices and
procedures which would be common to all Iuture exploration activities in the body of the
permit and then to provide details for each individual exploration program as a "Notice of
Intent for Exploration Activities" to be inserted in a new exhibit, Exhibit 2.04-E3, Geologic
Information. For now, these materials do not fit into the existing permit very well, but can be
held in a MR file until the new revised and approved permit is filed. Please review the
accompanying materials and contact me with any questions or concerns. We appreciate you
cooperation in expediting review of this revision request.
P.O.
