Minor Revrsron No. 231
November 5, /997
Pumpine Wells
Page 4
Six additional pumping wells may be drilled. At this time MCC expects to drill two
wells, W-1G and W-1H. One hole (W-1G) will be drilled southeast of the substation
and the other (W-1H) drilled to the north of the substation. The locations of these
two holes are shown on the enclosed map. W-1G will be approximately 190 feet
deep. Approximately 20 feet of 12-inch steel surface casing and eight-inch PVC
casing for the full depth will be installed. The bottom 40 feet of the well will be
screened, the hole gravel-packed to within 20 feet of the surface, and the annulus
grouted to the surface. Reclamation of the hole will require abandoning the 190 feet
deep, eight-inch diameter hole.. The steel and PVC casing will be cut to below
ground surface and the hole will be abandoned in accordance with Rule 4.07.3(2).
W-1H will be drilled as a 12-inch hole completed with 6-inch PVC. The hole will be
50 feet deep. The bottom 40 feet of the well will be screened, and the annulus will
contain three feet of bentonite above the screen and the rest of the annulus grouted to
the surface. Reclamation will be as described for W-1G, above.
Soil Sampling Drill Holes
MCC will air rotary drill a maximum of five (5) soil sample holes. At this time, only
one location has been determined and is shown on the enclosed map. The holes will
be approximately 50 feet deep and six-inches in diameter. The holes will be backfilled
with cuttings immediately following collection of thin wall samples and shear strength
test samples.
Please call if you have any questions.
cc: Norm Every
Phil Schmidt
Kathy Welt
~za i.aa
