Long <br />Division DileUOr <br />The Division of Minerals and Geology hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article 33, Section 118, Paragraph 3, <br />of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on August 14, 2001, an application to revise coal mining operations at the Bowie No. 2 <br />Mine was considered complete for the purposes of filing. All review and comment periods az provided in [he Ac[ and the <br />Regulations initiate from this date of filing. <br />Approval of this revision will pemtit the construction of a unit train loadout south of the present mining operation and allow for <br />an increase in the annual coal production from 5 million tons per year to 6 million tons per year. The proposed train loadou[ <br />construction will include a conveyor belt system to transpoR coal from the present coal stockpile, over Old Highway 133, [o a <br />batch weigh loading system located above the raiUoad tracks. Also, there will be 11,855 feet of new railroad track construction <br />azsocia[ed with the train loadout. Sediment control will consist of one sedimentation pond and several areas protected by <br />berms, silt fence and straw bales. The design capacity of the proposed sedimentation pond is 2.41 acre-fee[. The permit area <br />will increase by 94 acres of private land, 32 acres of which will be disturbed acreage. <br />The Underground coal mining operation is on land located approximately 5 miles Northeast of Paonia, Colorado. The permit <br />area is further described as follows: <br />Portions of Sections 2, 3, 4, 9, l0, 11, 14, 15, and 16, Township 13 South, Range 91 West of the 6th P.M. <br />Portions of Sections 33 and 34, Township l2 South, Range 91 West of the 6th P.M. <br />The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle map of Bowie. <br />A copy of the revision application is available for public inspection at the Paonia Public Library, 140 Grand Avenue, Paonia, <br />CO 81428, and a[ the Division office.
