<br />n <br />u <br />NATIONAL KING COAL, INC., 4424 County Road 120, Hesperus, <br />Colorado 81326, phone (303) 385-4606, has filed certain <br />modifications to Mining and Reclamation Permit #C81-035 with the <br />Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board under the Colorado Surface <br />Coal Mining Reclamation Act of 1979. These modifications are <br />required as part of a mid-term review by C.p.M.G. The mine is <br />located in portions of Sections 31 and 32; Township 35 North, <br />Range 11 West, N.h1.P.M., Section 36; Township 35 North, Range 12 <br />West, N.h1.P.M., and Section 6; Township 34 North, Range 11 [lest, <br />N.M.P.M.,La Plata County, Colorado. The surface of the area to <br />be mined is owned by Lawrence Huntington and the State of <br />Colorado. All mining activities of the King Coal Mine lie to the <br />south side of Hay Gulch, approximately 4.~ miles southwest of <br />Hesperus, as identified on U.S.G.S. 7.5 Minute Quadrangles of <br />Hesperus and Kline. Federal coal has been extracted from the <br />King Coal `tine since 1941. <br />Underground mining methods are in use. The proposed land <br />use at the completion of mining is for rangelands. A copy of the <br />aforementioned modifications is available for public inspection <br />in the office of the La Plata County Clerk and Recorder, <br />Courthouse, Durango, Colorado. <br />• Written comments, objections or requests for informal <br />conferences on the application may be submitted to the Colorado <br />Mined Land Reclamation Board, Centennial Building, 1313 Sherman <br />Street, Denver, Colorado 80203. <br />• <br />
