i
•
NOTICE OF PROPOSED DECISION

The Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology proposes that an application to
renew a valid, existing permit to conduct coal mining and reclamation
operations submitted by Kaiser Resources, Inc. for the Colorado Coal Mine
No. 1 be approved.
The Colorado Coal Mine No. 1 operation is located in Huerfano County,
approximately four miles northwest of Walsenburg, Colorado. The permit is for
reclamation purposes only. The mined coal was privately owned, and the
affected surface is privately owned. The permit area encompasses approxi-
mately 312 acres in Section 25, T27S, R67W.
This proposed approval decision is based on a finding that the proposed
operation will comply with all requirements of the Colorado Surface Coal
Mining Reclamation Act, C.R.S. 34-33-101, et seg., and the regulations
promulgated thereunder.
Copies of the proposed decision including stipulations, are on file for public
inspection at the Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology, Room 215,
1313 Sherman Street, Denver, Colorado 80203 and at the County Planner's
Office, Huerfano County Courthouse, Walsenburg, Colorado 81089. Persons with
an interest that may be adversely affected by the proposed decision may
request a formal hearing before the Mined Land Reclamation Board on the
proposed decision. Such request must be made within thirty (30> days of the
initial publication of this notice, must be in writing, and must state with
reasonable specificity the reasons for the request and the objections to the
proposed decision.
