This letter will
serve to transmit Twentymile Coal's commitment to pay into the Windy Gap assessment for
increasing production to 10,000,000 tons per year. The original technical revision application
presented a depletion of 134.89 ac-ft resulting from the increased production. My letter of March
5, 1997 to Mr. Larry Kline of the Office of surface Mining provides the detail for this estimate. A
copy of the letter is attached for your use.
It is my understanding the current assessment for this process is $13.41 per ac-ft. Therefore, once
final approval is obtained, Twentymile commits to submitting a maximum payment of $1,808.88
to the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation in Washington, D.C., unless advised of a different
recipient of the fees.
I would appreciate it if you could review this proposal and fonvazd your recommendations to the
Office of Surface Mining so that the approval process can progress. Thank you for your attention
to this request. if there are questions, please contact me at (970-870-2712).
~~ U
Richard Mills
Environmental Manager
attachment
cc: Janet Binns (DMG) without attachment
Lany Kline, (OSM) without attachment
fi I e: I: \revi Sion\tech-rev\[ 9728fivr. doc
