March 1998 S(trmp Investigattor: and Mitigation Report ~ /'age 4 <br />Additionally, six rebar boundary markers were emplaced approximately 100 feet outside of the <br />slump to mark the limits of the area to be excluded from the Phase II/III bond release <br />application for the majority of the permit area. These markers were also surveyed for vertical <br />and lateral location. <br />2.4 FRENCH DRAIN EVALUATION <br />To help assess the effectiveness of the French drain installed upslope of the slump in October <br />1994, MWA installed two additional piezomecers (PZ-1 and PZ-2), one just uphill of the French <br />drain and one just downhill, as shown in Exhibit I-I. These were constructed similar to those <br />described in Section 2.2 and screened near the elevation of the French drain. If tltere is <br />significant water recharge occurring in the drainage area above [he French drain and migrating <br />through the subsurface, and iE the drain is effective, more water should be observed in the <br />uphill piezometer than in the downhill piezometer. <br />Montgomery Watson Americas * P.O.
