Colorado 80701 <br />13 031 867-24 93 <br />Planting Reocamendations, Morgan County Gravel Pits <br />Haled upon the degree of slope to which the pits will be graded, <br />there should be no problem in operating the grass seeding drill owned and <br />operated by the Morgan Soil Conservation District. <br />Hopefully, there will be sufficient top soil to Dover the gravel <br />underlay to a depth of at least six (6) inches to allow grass to grow. <br />Most of the native grasses listed cat the vegetation information <br />• sheet should be available for purchase through the Soil Conservation <br />Distric? via the experiment station at Meeker, Colorado. Otte oasts will be <br />quite high due to the demaatd and oampetition for grass seed needed on <br />Conservation Reserve lands. <br />The area can best be reseeded to grasses due to availability of <br />seed. Sagebrush, fringe sage, wol:afwnod and soapweed will invade the area <br />over time. Initial land stablization can occur using Junegrass, <br />side~ats,grama and little bltlestem. <br />In the event that introduced grasses are selected, brcmegrass, blue <br />gramma, sandl,ove grass or Arizona fescue grass should work well. The <br />percentage of each or at least three grass species will depend upon their <br />cost at purchase time. Seed ousts will range from $1.00 to $5.00 per <br />pound. depending on the variety selected. <br />• <br />Colorado Stete University.
