J Furthermore, injection activities shall be
terminated immediately; and operation shall not be
resumed until the permittee has taken necessary
actions to restore integrity to said well(s) and
EPA gives approval to recommence injection.
5. Injection Interval. Injection will be limited to the
Boies Bed of the Parachute Creek Member of the Green River
Formation. Thickness of the Boies Bed may reach as much as 68
feet, however the mineable nahcolite facies 3n the southern part
of the lease area is generally 31 feet thick. Available data for
the stratigraphic top of the Boies Bed indicates that it varies
laterally, from depths of approximately 1748 feet to 1922 feet.
The base of the injection zone is reported to be at depths
ranging from 1781 feet to 1989 feet.
Approximately 2.6 feet of the Boies Bed will be removed,
through dissolution of the predominantly nahcolitic beds. The
mineable portions of the $oies Bed possess crystalline nahcolite
that varies in color from white to light brown.
6. Injection Pressure Limitation.
(a) Injection pressure, measured at the surface, shall
not exceed 610 pstg.
(b) The pressure limit in paragraph (a1 may be
increased by the Director if the fracture pressure
of tt~e injection formation will not be exceeded,
and t:he permittee demonstrates either:
(i) that the proposed increase in surface
injection pressure is necessary to overcome
friction losses in the injection system.
The Director will determine any allowable
increase based upon parameters reflecting
actual injection operations; or
(11) that the proposed increase in surface
injection pressure is required to inject the
necessary volume rate of fluid. The
demonstration required under this paragraph
will be based upon the specific injection
operation.
(c) The permittee shall give thirty (30) days advance
notice to the Director if the increase in
paragraph (b) will be sought. Details of the
proposed test shall be submitted at least seven
(7) days in advance of the proposed test date so
that the Director has adequate time to review and
Page 12 of 61
EPA Permit No. COS2358-0696
