M-t97b~-oz <br />~M//-^'ot~`1A -r- /~ <br />C6V ~l.C1 (AQf$ ~~e('ia~S~lnc <br />I am providing permit assistance to Four Corners Materials of Durango, Colorado for a <br />one time planned excavation of gravel from a terrace adjacent to the Animas River <br />approximately 11 miles north of Durango- The area of excavation is approximately 4.7 <br />acres and there currently exists 3 abandoned sewage ponds on the site, two of which <br />are lined and one is not. The land is owned by Colleen Bryce and Donna Thompson, <br />who are in favor of the removal of the ponds and excavation of the gravel. Once the <br />,gravel is excavated, a lake of 2-4 acre surface area will be created with wetland plants, <br />etc. <br />Apparently the sewage ponds were built years ago to handle the waste from a condo <br />complex located within 3/4 mile of the site, which later used the city sewage system. <br />Although the landowners have told us that the ponds were pumped out, we are <br />contacting you to determine what procedures we should employ prior to and during the <br />removal of the ponds. <br />I can be contacted at the number shown above.
