Riley Gravel Pit
Mining Method to be Employed
Exhibit D
Mining Plan
The New pit perimeter encompasses approximately 19.09 acres. The potential mineral material reserves of
rock and soil are 260,000 cubic yards. Approximately 15,000 cubic yards will be removed a year.
The maxim seam thickness to be mined will be 70'. The pit azea receives 20" of precipitation a year.
Surface water is generally not present in the permit area. The mining operation will no[ intersect any
sources of ground water. During operations, the pit will be bermed with material piles or topsoil piles [o
contain any overland flow from storm events.
Due to the small staging azea and the pit area, reclamation will proceed at the completion of mining.
Mining equipment will consist of one crusher with a capacity of 105 tons per hour and usually one front-
end loader and one crawler tractor. The crawler tractor will push material across the pit where it will be
loaded by a front-end loader into the crusher. Crushed material will be stockpiled at the west end of the pit.
Typically no more than twenty truckloads will be hauled per day.
A steel gate with warning signs will be placed at the entrance to the pit to restrict access to unauthorized
personnel. The pit will be patrolled on a regular basis to inspect for damage and to remove litter and illegal
dumping. Jackson County Weed Control will control all noxious weeds. No inoperable equipment or
equipment not related to the mining operation will be stored at the site.
