NOTICE OF PROPOSED DECISION <br />The Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology proposes to approve Technical Revision <br />Application No. 18 for the North Thompson Creek Mine (Permit No. C-81-025), submitted by <br />MINREC, Inc. The revision pertains to revising the design of the water treatment pond spillways <br />and providing for the combination of the discharge from the No. 1 and No. 3 mines. <br />The North Thompson Creek Mine is a reclaimed underground coal mine located in Pitkin and <br />Garfield Counties, approximately nine miles southwest of Carbondale, Colorado. Coal interest is <br />federal and private, and the surface to be affected is federal and private land. The permit area <br />encompasses approximately 3,176 acres. <br />This proposed decision is based on a fmding that the proposed operation will comply with all <br />requirements of the Colorado Surface Coal Mining Reclamation Act, C.R.S. 34-33-101, et seq., <br />and the regulations promulgated thereunder. <br />Copies of the proposed decision, including stipulations, are on file for public inspection at the <br />Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology, Room 215, Centennial Building, 1313 Sherman <br />Street, Denver, Colorado 80203, and at the Garfield County Clerk's Office, 109 Eighth Street, <br />Glenwood Springs, Colorado 81601. Persons with an interest that may be adversely affected by <br />the proposed decision may request a formal hearing before the Mined Land Reclamation Board on <br />the proposed decision. Such request must be made within ten (10) days of the initial publication of <br />this notice, must be in writing, and must state with reasonable speci5city the reasons for the <br />request and the objections to the proposed decision. <br />
