<br />Notice of Proposed Decision <br />The Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology has issued a proposed decision to approve Bond <br />Release Application No. 4 (SL-4) for the Edna Strip Mine, Permit No. C-80-001. The mine is operated <br />by The Pittsburg & Midway Coal Mining Co. under the provisions of the Colorado Surface Coal Mining <br />Reclamation Act of 1979. The bond release application was submitted by The Pittsburg & Midway Coal <br />Mining Co. on October 15, 1997. Pittsburg & Midway Coal Company is requesting a Phase I bond <br />release on the Moffat Area, covering 342.5 acres of the Edna Mine. The bond release is for backfilling <br />and grading to approximate original contour and drainage reestablishment in that azea of the mine. The <br />affected area is located in Routt County, approximately 5 miles northwest of Oak Creek, Colorado as <br />described below: <br />Section 31, TSN, R85W <br />S1/2, N1/2 <br />S1/2 <br />Section 7, T4N, R85W <br />N1/2, N1/2 <br />SE1/4, NW1/4 <br />S1/2, NE1/4 <br />Section 36, TSN, R86W <br />El/2, SE1/4 <br />Copies of the proposed decision are available for review at the Colorado Division of Minerals and <br />Geology office, 1313 Sherman Street, Room 215, Denver, Colorado 80203, and at the office of the <br />Routt County Clerk and Recorder. <br />Any person who has an interest which is or may be adversely affected may request an adjudicatory <br />hearing regarding this proposed decision. Requests for a hearing must be made in writing within thirty <br />(30) days of the fust publication of this notice, and shall state with reasonable specificity the reasons for <br />the request and objections to the proposed decision. <br />
