Long <br />Division Director <br />The Division of Minerals and Geology hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article 33, Section l I8, Pazagraph 3, <br />of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that olt August 14, 2001, an application to revise coal mining operations at the Bowie No. 2 <br />Mine was considered complete for the purposes of Filing. All review and cotrtment periods as provided in the Act and the <br />Regulations initiate from this date of filing. <br />Approvsl of this revision will permit the conswc[ion of a unit train loadout south of the present mining operation and allow for <br />an increase in the annual coal production from 5 million tons per year to 6 million tons per yeaz. The proposed Vain loadout <br />construction will include a conveyor bell system [o transport coal from the present coo] stockpile, over Old Highway 133, to a <br />batch weigh loading system located above [he railroad tracks. Also, there will be 1 ],855 feet of new railroad track construction <br />associated with the [rain loadout Sediment control will consist of cne sedimentation pond and several areas protected by <br />berms, silt fence and sVaw bales. The design capacity of the proposed sedimentation pond is 2.41 acre-fret. The permit azea <br />will increase by 94 acres of private land, 32 acres of which will be disturbed acreage. <br />The Underground coal mining operation is on land located approztmately 5 miles Northeast of Paonia, Colorado. The permit <br />area is further described as follows: <br />Portions of Sections 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11, 14, 15, and 16, Township I3 South, Range 91 West of the 6th P. M. <br />Portions of Sections 33 and 34, Township 12 South, Range 91 West of the 6th P.M. <br />The above-mentioned Vacts of land aze shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle map of Bowie. <br />A copy of the revision application is available for public inspection at the Paonia Public Library, 140 Grand Avenue, Paonia, <br />CO 81428, and at the Division office.
