Lang <br />Division Director <br />The Division of Minerals and Geology hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article 33, Section 1 !8, Pazagraph 3, <br />of [he Colorado Revised Statutes, that on August 14, 2001, an application to revise coal mining operations at the Bowie No. 2 <br />Mine was considered complete for the purposes of filing. All review and comment periods as provided in dte Act and the <br />Regulations initiate from [his date of filing. <br />Approval of this revision will permit the construction of a unit train loadout south of the present mining operation and allow for <br />an increase in the annual coal production from 5 million tons per year to 6 million tons pcr year. The proposed Vain loadout <br />construction will include a conveyor belt system to transport coal from the present coal stockpile, over Old Highway 133, [o a <br />batch weigh loading system located above [he railroad Vacks. Also, [here will be 11,855 feet of new raiUoad track consVVC[ion <br />associated with [he train loadout Sediment ,control will consist of one sed'¢nentation pond and several areas protected by <br />berms, silt fence and sVaw bales. The design capacity of the proposed sedimentation pond is 2.41 acre-feet. The permit area <br />will increase by 94 acres of private land, 32 acres of which will be disturbed acreage. <br />The Underground coal mining operation is on land locs[ed approximately 5 miles Northeast of Paonia, Colorado. The permit <br />area is further described as follows: <br />Portions of Sections 2, 3, 4, 9, I0, 11, 14, 15, and 16, Township 13 South, Range 91 West of the 6th P.M. <br />Portions of Sec[ioos 33 and 34, Township 12 South, Range 9I West of the 6th P.M. <br />The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle map of Bowie. <br />A copy of the revision application is available for public inspection at the Paonia Public Library, 140 Grand Avenue, Paonia, <br />CO 81428, and at the Division office.
