Carbon Junction Mine (CDMG permit C-92-080)
Deaz Ms. Bulinski:
Oakridge Energy, Inc. is applying for Phase I, II and III bond and liability release for a
small parcel of property within the permit area of the Cazbon Junction Mine, located
two miles southeast of the Durango city limits, midway up Carbon ]unction Canyon,
on Ewing Mesa. This is approximately one mile east of the Highway 160-550 business
route junction, lying one mile east of the Animas River. The parcel for which bond
release is sought is within portions of Section 33, T35N, R9W and Section 33,
T34'/zN, R9W. As required by Colorado law, whenever bond or liability release is
requested, all interested or affected parties with a valid legal interest must be notified,
and afforded the opportunity to comment or request an informal conference on the bond
release in accordance with Rule 3.03.3 of the Regulations of the Colorado Mined Land
Reclamation Board for Coal Mining. This letter will serve to notify you that Oakridge
Energy is requesting liability release for the area with no accompanying reduction in
the amount of the existing reclamation bond. The area, while within the mine permit
area, was not part of the mining area, and the only mine related disturbance was the
construction of a storage pad and accompanying access road. Total disturbance is
approximately one acre. The owner of the property wishes the facility left in-place for
use in the development and operation of the property. The release of liability would
release all reclamation liability for this area from the mine. The complete bond and
liability release application submitted to the Colorado Division of Minerals and
Geology will be on file with the Division in Denver at 1313 Sherman Street, Room
215, and the La Plata County Clerk and Recorder, La Plata County Courthouse, 1060
E. Second Avenue, Durango, CO 80301 during the review period. All information
pertinent to the bond and liability release request is presented in this application.
