that one hour was plenty of time for one person to load or unload these pieces of
equipment. Much of this time involves placing and removing the placarding. One person
could actually do these tasks in about 30 minutes without interruptions. Less time would
be needed for the smaller pieces of equipment that doesn't require the placarding.
Average travel speeds between Rangely and Grand Junction hauling equipment run about
50 mph. He stated that today's trucks can easily handle moving the heavy equipment
over Douglas Pass to Grand Junction averaging this speed.
DMG suggested that haulage from the Wagner Equipment rental shop in Hayden would
be equally problematic. Highway 40 from Hayden to the mine is reasonably flat with
only Craig and Maybell in between. We even hauled our last two locomotives over this
"problematic" highway between Craig and the mine without incident.
DMG's use of taking such equipment through Denver is an absurd measure of average
travel speed. Heavy bumper to bumper city traffic is not an issue in the majority of
Colorado, especially around Rangely. '
Please amend Task 120, 121, and 122 to reflect reasonable haul speeds, cycle times, and
eliminate the "helper" from the transport rig costs as discussed above.
Otherchan¢es
Page V-20 and Figure V-2 on page V-22 were modified to specify that the bottom 50 feet
of the backfill in the shafts were to be of incombustible material.
