This plan for augmentation was proposed to afford a fully augmented supply of.water for
the Applicant's coal mine located in Section 24, Township 5 South, Range 92 West of
the 6th P.M. The Applicant proposes to provide a water supply for domestic, imgation,
dust suppression, evaporation, and cooling purposes and other industrial uses in
association with its operation of the coal mine. The Applicant proposes to divert water
through the structures listed in Paragraph 18, above, for these purposes. (A location map
showing the mine and structures is attached as Exhibit "A").
Additionally, the Applicant must pump water from the mine portal in order to dewater
the mine. Such water is pumped into ponds to settle the solids. Water pumped into the
ponds that is not used returns to the stream system via seepage and by releases from the
pond. To determine the water requirements for operation of the mine, the Applicant has
estimated the following: Approximately 35 persons will be employed by Eastside Coal
Company. In-house uses consists of domestic uses, outside uses consist of irrigation of
up to 1 acre per year and coal-related industrial uses. The consumptive use associated
with the operation of the Applicant's coal mine and transit losses associated with the
water rights to be used for augmentation are summarized in Table 1 below.
C:IF7IFSIEASTSID E ] DE
I.r.Y so, I99I -4-
