Keep monitoring.
Station U10 Monitors the landslide(s), and movement is variable. This site should still be
monitored. Movement seems to correspond to spring 1993 slide activity.
Station Ul l Monitors the landslide(s), and a vertical change seems to correspond with
spring 1993 slide activity. Keep monitoring.
Station U21 Monitors the landslide(s). Monitoring should continue.
Station U22 Monitors the landslide(s). Monitoring station should be reestablished, and
monitoring should continue. The operator should verify that reestablishment
of the station will occur.
Stations U25. U26. U27
Monitoring of these stations must be left open-ended at this time. Additional
mining impacts are anticipated; monitoring beyond 1996 may be necessary.
This matter can be readdressed in the future.
2. A monitoring reduction can be reconsidered if a detailed study is performed which assesses
the current surficial slide features, relative to the ancient slide bodies of historic concern, and
Bear Mine subsidence. This study should be conducted by an individual or group expert in
this field. Recommendations include John Ivy, Michael Bukovanski, the USGS or the CGS.
DAB/bjw
M:\OSS\B1W\DAB.BCC
