Lonp <br />Somerset, Colorado 81434 Diriaion Director <br />Re: Minor Revision No. 189 (Borehole Drilling/Soils Investigation) West Elk Mine <br />(Permit No. C-80-007) <br />Dear Ms. Johnston: <br />On June 14, 1996 the Division received the above-referenced minor revision application. <br />The application has been deemed incomplete for the purposes of filing for the following <br />reasons: <br />1. Please provide a schedule for conducting the drilling including approximate beginning <br />and completion dates. <br />2. Indicate to the Division the number and types of analyses to be performed on soil <br />samples. <br />3. Please indicate the approximate depth of the borings and whether or not you intend <br />to encounter groundwater during the drilling effort. <br />The application will be deemed adequate upon receipt of the above information and upon <br />agreement from Mountain Coal Company that all boreholes will be properly sealed in <br />accordance with Rule 4.07. <br />Please call if you have any questions. <br />Sincerely, <br />Michael P.
