Memorandum

To: Byron Walker
From: Janet Binns
Date: 07/24/02
Re: Colowyo, C-1981-019
CC: Dan Hernandez
File: C:/jhb/Team/Colowyo/TR-57.doc
I have reviewed Colowyo's submittal of TR-57, revised page 4.15-1 (July 8, 2002), regazding proposed
change to revegetation monitoring schedule.
Colowyo proposes to visually monitor reclaimed vegetative stands the first growing season after planting;
i.e. the summer following a Fall seeding, or the summer following a Spring seeding. A visual assessment
will allow Colowyo to determine if the seeding effort has germinated and is becoming established, if a
noxious weed problem is presenting itself, or if other significant problems aze exhibiting themselves. This
will allow the operator to take corrective measures eazly in the vegetation establishment process. Colowyo
will not take frequency measurements at this early stage of re-vegetation. This proposal is acceptable to the
Division.
Colowyo proposes to conduct additional monitoring in areas seeded 7 years or longer. This proposed
monitoring may help the operator determine an areas readiness to schedule bond release sampling.
Colowyo's proposal is in agreement with Rule 4.15.1(4) and acceptable to the Division.
